Professor David Hung is Dean of Education Research and Centre Director of Science of Learning in Education at the National Institute of Education (NIE), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore and the President’s Chair in Learning Sciences. His research focuses on learning and instructional technologies, constructivism and social constructivism, cognition and communities of practice. He has over 200 publications and is well recognised in the sphere of learning sciences and educational technology communities in recent years.

Felix is currently the Strategic Lead for Singapore across the Education, EdTech & Research space for Google Cloud. He brings with him 16 years of experience in the education and technology industry across APAC, working closely with educational institutions and governing agencies in understanding and implementing solutions to enhance teaching & learning, both virtually and in-person. His passion in education, technology and business development drives him to constantly learn new technologies and think of creative ways in utilising technology to enhance efficiency and embedding tech into teaching pedagogies.

Future of Education: Challenges and Opportunities
The Interdisciplinary Nature of Learning, Translation, and Its Opportunities at NIE
The pandemic revealed vulnerabilities, including that of the speed of change and disruptions. Are our schools adequately preparing learners in the 15 years of schooling for the next 50 years of life?
This talk will first present on the pedagogies which have been developed to date. It then posits that as an institution, we need more than just pedagogies to accomplish NIE’s vision of leading the future of education; we also require to build the socio-technical-technological infrastructure that is aligned to future goals and needs.
Finally, it discusses on how NIE can leverage the existing opportunities in the R&D landscape, and capitalize on interdisciplinary andtranslational levers in learning for a quality-inclusive future of education.
